HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 30 (acn) Cuban Osleni Guerrero debuts today at the International Badminton Cup, based in Brazil until next November 2nd, tournament that brings together players from America and Europe.
Guerrero, who appears 53 rd in the world, will try to have a good performance in an event that grants 3 500 points for the world ranking.
The Cuban representative , second seed in the competition, will be one of the major contenders in the men's single event; along with Swedish Henri Hurskainen, top seed, plus Americans Sattawat Pongnairat (3) and Howard Shu (5).
Also, Guerrero could face on the court the Israeli Misha Zilberman, 4th seed; Czech Jan Frohlich (8), and the also American Bjorn Seguin (7), who lost to the Cuban in the final of the Pan American Championship that finished on October 19th .
In addition to the aforementioned tournament, so far this season, the best badminton player in the Americas has also won gold medals in the Opens of Peru and Venezuela; while he finished third the event of Havana and at the Brazil Grand Prix.
The International Cup on Brazilian soil will serve as training for the Central American and Caribbean Games to be held in Veracruz, Mexico, from November 14 to 30.
