HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 21 (acn) Cuba will take part with eight judokas in the World Junior Judo Championship, scheduled to take place from November 22 to 26 at the Broward County Covention Center, Fort Lauderdale, United States, with the presence of 563 athletes from 80 countries.
The reduced Cuban women's representation is led by Gusmary García, world cadet champion in over 70 kilograms, in Miami 2013, who will now compete in more than 78 kilos, and Maylin del Toro (63), bronze medalist in the edition of Ljubljana 2013 .
Meanwhile, the major trump cards of the men are Magdiel Estrada (73), seventh in Slovenia 2013 and with experience in senior world cups, and Ivan Silva (81), bronze medalist in the Olympic Youth Games in Nanjing, China, in 2013.
The women's team is completed with the international debutants Adilaidis Lemus (57) and Nairelis Fuentes (70), while the men's squad also includes the beginners Leilandy Alain Puentes (60) and Gleydiel Camilo Hourrutunier (66).
According to the website of the event, the individual competition will start on Wednesday 22nd while the team tournament will be on Sunday 26th.
The individual tournament will be attended by 331 men from 75 countries, and 232 women from 64 nations.
