Cali 2021: A Cuban bronze woman in weightlifting

CALI, Colombia, Nov 29 (ACN) They say that Cuban female weightlifters did not want to leave the First Junior Pan American Games without climbing onto the podium, and one of them reached that goal at the first opportunity: Elizabeth Caridad Reyes Entenza (87 kg), who won the bronze medal Sunday at the Ramon Elias Lopez Coliseum, in the Colombian municipality of Palmira.

Reyes Entenza finished fourth with a 97 kg snatch, tied with the American Anna Mcelderry. The Ecuadorian Bella Nancy Paredes Arreaga (101 kg), the Mexican Ángela Yazmín Gutiérrez López (100 kg) and the Colombian Angie Paola Franco Rodríguez (98 kg) dominated the event.
However, she rose to the challenge and ended up in the third position in clean & jerk, with 125 kg, leaving Gutiérrez Lopez and Mcelderry without a medal.

The final order was Paredes (229 kg), Franco (225 kg) and Reyes (222 kg).

The Cuban Weightlifting Federation wrote on its Facebook page that "the delegation keeps performing as predicted for the First Junior Pan Am Games. This time a commendable fifth place for Daniel Cabrera Ruiz (109 kg) and third for Elizabeth Caridad Reyes Entenza".

On Monday, Cuba will compete with Marifelix Sarría (+87 kg) and Alejandro Manuel Carrazana (+109 kg).
