Cuban Mijain Lopez Notches up Fifth World Title in Wrestling

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 13 (acn) Two-time Olympic champion Cuban Mijain Lopez won in Tashkent his fifth title in World Wrestling Championships in the 130 kilogram division.

Lopez took revenge on Turkish Riza Kayaalp, who had beat him three years ago in his turf in Istanbul, and with a 2-0 verdict lifted another crown to add top those won in Budapest, Baku, Herning and Moscow

On his path to the finals, the Greco-Roman giant crushed 10 to 2 Tajikistan´s a Murodjon Tuychiev and was even better when facing German Eduard Popp who could not score him a single point while the Cuban had eight.

According to the event´s official website, in quarterfinals Lopez also left scoreless Iranian Behram Mehdizadeh and won 6-0, before a very tight victory in semis against Russian Bilial Makhov.

Thus Miajin Lopez consolidates as one of the best Greco-Roman fighters in history, with many titles in all categories and kinds of event
