HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 8 (acn) Cuban Reineris Salas won the silver medal today in the 86 kilograms during the opening day of the World Wrestling Championship, based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Salas, freestyle modality, lost against Russian Abdulrashid Sadulaev, who defeated him in the final by technical superiority (10-0), according to the website of the International Wrestling Federation (IWF).
Sell Yasar from Turkey and Iranian Mohammadhosein Mohammadian reached the bronze medals of that division.
Through this result, Salas matched his performance in Budapest 2013, event in which he finished runner-up, so he again demonstrated high level in this combat sport.
The Cuban wrestler achieved five wins on his way to the final and his victims were South Africa´s Armando Ruan Hietbrink, Indian Naresh Kumar, Japanese Atsushi Matsumoto, Iranian Mohammadian and Azeri Gamzat Osmanov.
The other three Cuban freestyle wrestlers: Yowly Bonne (61 kilos), Livan Lopez (74) and Javier Cortina (97) will debut tomorrow on the second competitive day.
