Renowned Cuban Actor Premieres his Play StrikeHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 19 (acn) The versatile actor Omar Franco will premiere tomorrow at Havana's Mella Theater the play Strike, first solo show in his 22 years of artistic life, directed by Roly Peña.

Produced by Bobby Estany, the text was advised by Antonio Berazaín and Jorge Bacallao and its first part is about the story of Ruperto, the character played by Franco on the television show ¨Vivir del cuento¨, starred by the famous humorist Luís Silva.

The second part will present a set of texts that have been successful recently, followed by a pretext to welcome the next school year, consisting of becoming the theater room in a large classroom.

Placed among the 10 most popular comedians of Cuba and representative of Cuban intelligent humor, according to the sites Soy Cubano and D'Farándula, Omar recently won the award for Best Supporting Actor in New York Film Festival, for his performance in the film Pablo and also won four Caricato prizes, including the Best Artist in 2013.

Member of the Artistic Board of the Humor Promoting Center, this actor has memorable performances in movies- ¨Pablo¨ and ¨Penumbras¨- and in theater: the characters of Bocachula in ¨Santa Camila de La Habana Vieja, ¨by Jose R. Brene and Mario Conde, inspired in Leonardo Padura´s literary character, premiered in 2007.

Currently you can see him in ¨Boccaccherías Habaneras¨, film recently released and he also develops several projects with filmmakers such as Arturo Sotto, Maylín Solaya and Fernando Timossi.

"Strike" will remain at Mella Theatre until next Friday, always at 8:30 pm .
