Cuban Cepeda voted MVP in Volleyball´s Men's Pan American CupHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 17 (acn) Cuban Rolando Cepeda was voted as MVP of the 9th Men's Pan American Cup, based in Tijuana, Mexico, where his team won the title by defeating USA in the final.

Besides Cepeda, Cuban captain, two of his teammates: Javier Jiménez, best spiker, and David Fiel, second in blocks behind Puerto Rican Mannix Roman, were among the most outstanding players of the tournament.

Argentina includ ed Franco Lopez, defensive leader and best libero, and Rodrigo Villalba, who escorted Cuban Jimenez in attack.

American Robert Boldog was chosen as best setter , the also Puerto Rican Jose Rivera excelled in passing, while Venezuela's Kervin Piñerau did it in serving, and Dominican Jose Caceres was the best outside hitter.
According to the website of the tournament, Puerto Rican Maurice Torres was the leading scorer with 102 points, 84 in attack, 8 blocks and 10 aces.

Cuba won the first place on Saturday after beating 3-0 USA -second-, while Argentina earned the bronze medal after defeating 3-2 Puerto Ricans, who were followed by Venezuela and Mexico respectively.

Meanwhile, Canada, the Dominican Republic and Colombia finished 7th to 9th, in that order.

The continental tournament granted seven tickets to the 2015 World Volleyball League, distributed to the top five North, Central America and the Caribbean teams, and two for South America.
