HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 16 (acn) The members of the Cuban badminton team are presently training in Cienfuegos, with a view to the Pan-American Festival scheduled for Queretaro, Mexico, on September 11-16.
Roberto Moyinedo, main trainer of the national team, told ACN that they're training hard to get to their most important tournament of the year -the Central American and Caribbean Games of Veracruz in November- at the peak of their fitness.
He pointed out that Cuba will be represented by a very young team, since all of them will be making their debut in this type of competition. Their average age is 17 for women and 19 for men.
However, he added, we hope to win gold medals in men's individual and some in doubles.
Of that group, composed of eight competitors, three men and three women will be present in Queretaro.
The group that will compete in Veracruz has not been defined yet.
