HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 13 (acn) Cuban men's team will face today the Dominican Republic in the third round of the preliminary stage of the 9th Volleyball Pan American Cup, underway in Tijuana, Mexico.
After beating 3-2 (18-25, 26-24, 25-20, 21-25 and 15-12) Puerto Rico, and having their resting day, Cubans will play against the Dominicans, who were previously defeated 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 28-26) by Puerto Ricans, who in turn will rest today.
So far, Puerto Ricans lead Group B with five points, one win and one loss, followed by Cubans (3-1-0) and Dominican Republic (0-0-1).
Mexico , Colombia and the United States compete in poole A, while Canada, Venezuela and Argentina do it in group C.
Today's other matches will be between Mexico and USA and Argentine vs. Canada.
According to the website of the event , the quarterfinals will be tomorrow, semifinals shall be on Friday, and the medals discussion will be on Saturday.
This continental tournament grant s tickets to the first five teams from North, Central America and the Caribbean region to the 2015 World Volleyball League.
