HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 6 (acn) Cuba will debut today against the host team in the first round of the Bolívar Ganador International Series with a stage in the Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias.
The right-hander Yosvani Torres will be the starter for Cuba against a team of the Bolivar department in a baseball event saluting the centennial of the sport in Colombia and it also involves squads from Panama and Dominican Republic.
The Cuban side includes 11 of the 24 players who swept 5-0 United States national university team in the traditional match between both baseball powers, held recently in Matanzas and Pinar del Río.
They are the catchers Frank Camilo Morejon and Lorenzo Quintana, infielders Luis Yander O, Ramón Lunar, Raúl González and José Miguel Fernández, outfielders Yadiel Hernandez and Roel Santos and pitchers Yoanni Yera, Vladimir Gutiérrez and Norge Luis Ruiz.
The other players of the squad are the infielders William Saavedra, Angel Miguel, Michel Enríquez, Andy Sarduy and Alexander Ayala, outfielders Victor V. Mesa and Maikel Caceres, and pitchers Yosvani Torres and José Ángel García.
