Cuba and India to boost cooperation in health sectorHAVANA, Cuba, Dec 7 (ACN) Cuba and India signed a memorandum of understanding to promote bilateral ties in the health sector, which includes training and exchange of experiences and the acquisition of pharmaceutical products.

According to the Prensa Latina news agency, the document was signed during a ceremony in New Delhi by the ministers of Health of Cuba, Roberto Morales, and India, J.P. Nadda, who highlighted the importance of it.

The Cuban official considered that the memorandum will allow for greater medical cooperation between both nations, and thanked the South Asian giant for its solidarity and support for his country after the recent passage of Hurricane Irma.

Nadda, who highlighted Cuba's experience and achievements in the field of medicine, especially in the training of professionals, said that they could collaborate in the transfer of technology for the mutual benefit of other nations.

The document signed on Wednesday provides for the exchange and training of doctors and health professionals, the acquisition of equipment and pharmaceutical products, and the promotion of opportunities, among other aspects.

As part of his two-day visit, the Cuban minister met separately with the Indian Ministers of natural and traditional medicine, Shripad Yesso Naik, and of Commerce and Industry, Suresh Prabhu.

Morales will visit tomorrow the National Institute of Medical Sciences of India and the National Institute of Ayurdeva.
