HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 21 (acn) Students from 7 Caribbean and Central American countries concluded on Monday a new course-workshop at the Creation of Capacities Center for the reduction of disaster risks and adapting to climate change located in the Cuban capital.
The students were from Cuba, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador, reported ACN quoting Lidice Castro Serrano, Director of the entity.
She explained that the main objective of the classes consists in knowledge and practical experiences in the management of dangers that provokes disasters of natural origin and climate modification.
The specialist added that they provide the tools and methods in order to interpret danger, vulnerability and risk aimed at applying the skills to their respective nations.
Participating at the event on the Cuban side were specialists from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, the Environment Agency and the Fructuoso Rodriguez Agrarian University in the province of Mayabeque.
Close to 30 similar courses and workshops destined to representatives and specialists from the island and Caribbean met in Cuba aimed at preparing in the reduction of disaster risks and adapting to climate change.
The initiative began three years ago with the opening of the CRDAC in Havana and later branches were annexed in the provinces of Camaguey and Holguin.
These classes have demonstrated a high level of commitment and preparation of its personnel as well as an adequate conception of the theoretical contents and practical exercises, said Castro Serrano.
A group of 16 institutions, mainly Cuban entities comply to the CRDAC a project of international cooperation between Cuba-Norway.
