World Federation of Public Health Associations awards Cuban scientific institute

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 28 (ACN) The Pedro Kouri Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK) recently received the Organizational Excellence Award granted by the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA), which is a recognition to the results obtained by the center during more than eight decades in the diagnosis, research, teaching and medical care fields.

The award has a double importance in the middle of the pandemic in which the institution has played an essential role, as a reference in Cuba in the treatment of infectious diseases, the IPK's Science and Innovation Department Chief Jorge Fraga Nodarse told exclusively to the Cuban News Agency.
The IPK has a total of 412 high impact scientific results, more than 190 annual awards from the Cuban Academy of Sciences, as well as the publication of 3,455 researches in important national and international journals, the scientist stated.
Another outstanding indicator is the close link with Cuban and foreign institutions and universities and their contribution to the fight against infections in several regions of the world.
For its part, the Cuban Society of Hygiene and Epidemiology congratulated the group of the scientific center and highlighted the role of the institution considered a reference for research, diagnosis, management and treatment of infectious diseases in Cuba, the region and the world.
The Organizational Excellence Award granted by the WFPHA highlights the contribution in this branch of non-governmental, non-profit organizations or institutions with more than a decade of experience in ensuring the well-being of communities.
