HAVANA, Oct 2 (ACN) The U.S. blockade against Cuba is a collective punishment, whose application is not allowed by the UN and the Human Rights Charter, Ignacio Ramonet, founder of the magazine Le Monde Diplomatique, denounced.
Speaking on a panel at the 4th Russia-Iberoamerica Forum, opened last Tuesday in that Eurasian country, Ramonet said that this blockade punishes a whole society, as it´s happening at present with the hostile U.S. policy against Cuba and Venezuela.
The French journalist noted that in a tightened economic, commercial and financial blockade, the United States hinders the fuel flow to Cuba and Russia keeps the power to carry out this task, referring to this week's visit to Cuba of the Russian Prime Minister, Dmitri Medvedev.
Ramonet called attention to Cuba's attitude and expressions of solidarity with other countries, and highlighted the work of tens of thousands of Cuban doctors in other nations, as well as the training of doctors from states worldwide in this Caribbean country.
