Second US-Cuba Agricultural Business Conference opens in HavanaHavana, Sep 11 (ACN) Havana is hosting today the second US-Cuba Business Conference, aimed at continuing the work begun in November 2018, in order to foster agricultural relations between the two countries.

The event will run until next Friday and will be held in difficult circumstances, when U.S. President Donald Trump tightens the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
Paul Johnson, co-chair of the U.S.-Cuba Agricultural Coalition, entity sponsoring the conference, acknowledged at the opening the difficult times between the two countries, "but I remain optimistic about the work we have been doing to improve these ties," he said.
The opening ceremony focused on the agricultural sector in the Caribbean island and current trends in the Cuban economy, given by Juan Jose Leon, international relations specialist at the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG).
The exchange program also includes a visit to the cooperative Antero Regalado, in Artemisa province, to places where important investments are made in this sector of the country, as well as to the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.
