International Congress on Sugar and Derivatives opens in Havana

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 24 (ACN) The 15th International Congress on Sugar and Derivatives (DIVERSIFICATION 2019) will kick off this Monday at Cuba's National Hotel, where nearly 400 Cuban and foreign specialists from 21 countries are expected to attend.

The organizers of the meeting confirmed that topics related to sugarcane agriculture, quality of raw material in sugarcane, in the field and in the harvest, industry and payment system, computerization and communication, advances in technology and efficiency, as well as renewable energy will be discussed.
In addition, they will discuss around alcohol and beverages, food safety and animal feed, bioproducts for agriculture, climate change, environmental management and quality, as well as technological innovation.
One of its main speakers will be José Alberto Orive Vélez (Guatemala), Executive Director of the International Sugar Organization (IOAS), who will give a lecture on Climate Change and Sugar Agroindustry, the source added.
Thirteen national companies and 14 from other nations will exhibit their products and services in 28 stands at the trade fair of the event, in which a Business Forum stands out and where the AZCUBA Business Group will offer details on its development program until 2030.
According to the program, to which the Cuban News Agency had access, there will be technical sessions and workshops, where producers will refer to experiences in the application of results exhibited at the congress.
Its promoters are the Grupo Azucarero AZCUBA, the Asociación de Técnicos Azucareros de Cuba and the Instituto Cubano de Investigaciones de los Derivados de la Caña de Azúcar (ICIDCA), which attributed vital importance to the exchange between technicians, specialists, researchers and professionals of the sector.
They also represent the Trade Fair and in particular the Business Forum on investments with foreign capital, export of products, services, equipment and technologies.
