Despite US blockade Habanos S.A. keeps growing in salesHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 30 (ACN) Although Habanos S.A. cigars are commercialized in more than 150 nations, the US blockade prevents Americans from acquiring them in their own country despite their desire to smoke them, an executive of the Habanos said in this city.

Néstor Valera, director of the Havana franchise of Habanos S.A., told ACN that amid the criminal economic, commercial and financial siege and anti-tobacco campaigns, year after year their brands continue to be luxurious and coveted worldwide, especially in Western Europe, particularly Spain, France and Germany.
Many of the Americans who travel to Cuba on cruise ships and for various reasons take advantage of the occasion to buy in the Casas del Habano and in other state-owned establishments those cigars of such prestige and quality, explained Valera.
Founded in 1994, Habanos S.A. is the world's leading company in the marketing of Premium cigars, and at the 36th Havana International Fair it exhibits a selection of products such as Cohíba Reserva Cosecha 2014, Partagás Línea Maduro and Le Hoyo de Río Seco, including new vitolas, as well as limited editions in 2018 of Romeo and Julieta Tacos, H. Upmann Propios and Bolívar Soberano.
Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, was interested on Monday in the productions not only destined to the international market, but also in borders, the rescue of brands that were part of his portfolio, the so-called Retro line, the situation with the containers or cases, and the worldwide commercialization of Habano in vitolas and brands of universal renown.
The president visited the stand of this joint venture, during his tour of Expocuba's central pavilion during the inaugural day of the Fair, where local entities show their main goods and services for export, or in search of foreign partners.
He was pleasantly impressed and happy with what he could see and know about this exportable item, and this stimulates us a lot, commented Valera.
This Cuban joint venture, equally owned by Cubatabaco and Altadis, a Spanish entity belonging to the English group Imperial Tobacco Group PLC, is in charge of the commercialization of all the tobacco products of the Cuba in the world, among which the world famous Habanos stand out.
