Cuban Tax office fines those in arrears

GUANTANAMO, Cuba, June 2 (ACN) The National Office of the Tax Administration (ONAT) in Guantánamo province fined 159 taxpayers that failed to comply with the tax declaration and payment corresponding to fiscal year 2017.

Decree 208 of 2012, of the Cuban Tax System, stipulates the payment of 600 pesos as a fine, once notified, for the first time, to those who do not meet the deadline on April 30 to pay their personal income tax.
A similar situation is faced by 72 other self-employed workers (TCP) who will have to pay surcharges for failing to file the return by that date, the majority of whom belong to the General Tax Regime (RTG).
This category includes licensees who report higher incomes (food processors, transporters, property renters, etc.), although some artists are also missing their payments.
On the contrary, all the members of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators (ACCS) in the territory complied with the law, aware that the sum they pay goes to the state coffers, which guarantees health, education and other social expenses, and from which they also benefit.
Arelys Torreblanca Hodelín, head of taxpayer services in the province, explained that this amount includes taxes on personal income and sales, or public services.
