Sagua La Grande, New Tourism Destination in CubaSAGUA LA GRANDE, Cuba, May 4 (ACN) Cuban Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero presented on Friday Sagua la Grande as a new tourism destination with the presence of tour operators and business executives participating in the International Tourism Fair, FitCuba 2018 held at the keys to the north of the province of Villa Clara.

In addition, with the presence of authorities from the Communist Party and Government of the territory, Marrero highlighted the attributes of the town also known as Villa del Undoso declared National Monument in 2011 for tis values.

Gathered at the theater of the municipality, Cuba's Tourism Minister spoke about the main events of the economic, social and cultural life of the town founded over 2 centuries ago and is now being introduced as a place for vacationers to enjoy.

The town is currently undergoing an investment process, which includes the reparation of Hotels Sagua and Palacio Arena, whose 84 and 11 rooms, respectively are linked to the modality of circuits.

A bar, night center, two stores and a Havanatur office are also included, said the Minister who mentioned that they are studying the possibility of constructing another two hotels.

The Tourism Minister highlighted several tour operators assisting in FitCuba 2018 that have shown interest in incorporating the destination in its catalogs and mentioned among them Thomas Cook from Canada, which is the first market of vacationers to the Caribbean island.

Another novelty that Sagua La Grande exhibits is the nautical base located in Cayo Esquivel with a capacity of 12 vessels connecting the fishing town of Isabela de Sagua with the heritage city in one hour.

Later presenting the potential of the municipality located in the province of Villa Clara, Manuel Marrero toured together with directives and foreign business executives the two refurbished hotels and visited Cayo Esquivel.

Sagua la Grande as tourism destination is part of a strategy to develop the modality of circuits in the country, demanded by those that visit the island.

FitCuba 2018 will conclude on Saturday in Cayo Santa Maria after three days of intense activities with the presence of representatives from 52 nations.
