Tourism Fair To Show Cuba as a Safe Destination

CAIBARIEN, Cuba, May 2 (ACN) The participation of business executives from 52 countries at the International Tourism Fair, FitCuba 2018 will be an opportunity to show the island's main attributes in particular its safety, according to Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero.

Marrero spoke at the inauguration on Wednesday at the Hotel Sercotel Experience Cayo Santa Maria on Cuba's attributes and the development of the sector.

With the presence of the Head of the Latin American Office and Assistant Director of the America Department of the British Foreign Ministry, Nigel Baker and authorities from the Communist Party and Government of the central province of Villa Clara, Marrero reaffirmed that Cuba is a safe destination.

He recalled that this reality made Cuba obtain a distinction during the recent tourism fair in Spain, which is a contrast to the US State Department's travel warming on the alleged incidents on US diplomatic personnel in Havana.

Despite the White House position, he said that there are currently 73 representatives from the US, airlines, cruises, tour operators and hotel chains among them the largest in the world.

The Cuban Tourism Minister added that there are almost 80 directives of the world's most important tour operators and travel agencies, which will allow the reinforcement of ties in favor of a growth in the sector, second most important source of earnings for the national economy.

He said that selecting the keys to the north of Villa Clara, site of FitCuba 2018, reaffirms its condition in being one of the three main tourism destinations in the country.

According to Marrero, there are 10 thousand 500 rooms in 17 hotels in the tourism complex in addition to an airport, dolphin center, restaurants, bars, a marina and four commercial squares, installations that coexist in harmony with the environment.

The Tourism Minister said that there are currently concluding 917 new rooms of which 600 are in the Sercotel Experience and 67 make up the first 5 star hotel that will not include the All Inclusive modality.

He stressed that this year Villa Clara will have one thousand 74 new rooms and other recreational areas.

In General, Cuba is ready to conclude this year with 4 thousand rooms, announced Marrero who ratified the country's decision to continue developing tourism as the key sector of its economy.

Dedicated to Sun and Beach, FitCuba 2018 will run until May 5 th and will include the neighboring keys of Ensenacho and Las Brujas and the cities of Santa Clara, Remedios and Sagua la Grande.
