Mexican company to start paint production in Cuban Zone of MarielHAVANA, Cuba, Apr 6 (ACN) Devox Caribe S.A, a branch of Mexico's General Paint company expects to begin paint production in late May in the Special Development Zone of Mariel, western Cuba.

The company started an investment process in June 2015 and the project is expected to produce acrylic paints for two years starting in 2018.

Other products, like special paints will come in a second stage of production, according to the company's general director Enrique Palacios.

A single production shift would produce one million liters of paint a month in the first stage, the executive explained.

The Mexican company has been selling Cuba paints over the past 25 years, which guarantees its market here, said the executive who added that with the new investment operation costs will be lowered by reducing payment of freight and other logistics.

"We will need smaller storing capacity on the ground to guarantee the availability of paints as loss due to manipulation and deterioration of the products will also decrease," said Palacios.

At present, the Mexican company has commercial offices in Havana, Varadero, central Ciego de Avila and Eastern Holguin provinces, which stands for a good coverage of the Cuban territory.
