HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 18 (ACN) The Provincial Food Industry achieved diversifying its offers in addition to increasing the presence of products in the commercial network during the past year, said Jose Amado Gudin, Director of the company.
The directive told the press in Havana that during 2017, they were able to recover the preserves industry with a great impact in the large markets, plazas and bakeries.
The Technical-productive Sub Director, Ardelin Gonzalez Mesa said that thanks to the improvement of the area, they were able to produce close to 6 thousand 700 tons of preserved food among them juices and vinegar.
Thanks to the cooperation of the government and Agricultural office in the territory, the stable presence of canned vegetables, tomato paste and fruit pulp and the refrigeration of the raw material that guaranteed the production throughout the year.
Regarding the specialized bakery, Gonzalez Mesa highlighted that they worked in guaranteeing, reparation and change of image of various centers like Monte Nuevo in Old Havana with over 30 already in the Cuban capital.
He explained that they are looking to maintain over 10 varieties of bread and over 12 type of pastries to sell in addition to jams and wheat among other highly demanded products for the population.
In the case of cookies, Gonzalez Mesa warned that currently it is impossible to maintain a stability in its presence due to the reduced production capacity to the demand of the population.
He highlighted the support of the Provincial Administrative Council and the Ministry of Industries for the stability of the packaging, one of the most serious problems facing the industry at this moment.
As part of the reparation and maintenance process, 70 installations were renovated in 2017 and they expect another 65 this year.
