HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 1 (acn) Venezuela ratified on Wednesday the validity of the Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement signed 17 years ago during the 35th Havana Trade Fair, FIHAV 2017 underway in the Cuban capital.
Venezuela’s Vice President of the Foreign Trade Bank, BANCOEX, Raul Casal pointed out that the alliance has resulted in important outcomes, and before the permanent economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, the alliance “is present more than ever”.
Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca affirmed that the agreement has established unprecedented bilateral exchanges, based on solidarity and not in self-interests.
He recalled that Venezuela is Cuba’s man trading partner although ties between both country’s business sectors must improve.
On the occasion of Wednesday’s vote on the Cuban Resolution against the US blockade at the UN General Assembly, Vivian Alvarado, Minister advisor at the Venezuelan embassy in Havana told ACN that the Bolivarian government once again ratified its solidarity with the Cuban people.
Venezuela is against the imperial force that attempts to maintain its position in interfering in the affairs of free, independent and sovereign nations, she stressed.
There are 22 Venezuelan business executives participating at the 35 th edition of the Havana Trade Fair with an exhibition of products in the sectors of technology, industry, food and others.
The Cuba-Venezuela Agreement, signed by Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez in 2000, has an impact in areas of sports, energy, culture, agriculture, education and health.
The agreement led to the creation of the Mission Barrio Adentro, a program that sponsors the education of Latin American doctors, Milagro and Sonrisa Missions all with a very high social impact among the population.
