MATANZAS, Cuba, Sep 27 (acn) The Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric power plant, located in this city, activated today the line number two of the pump house, first step in order to synchronize it to the national electro-energy system.
After more than 15 days of intense recovery work, the efficient unit started operating again and it is expected to initially generate more than 200 megawatt hours, said Boris Meneses, director general of the Electric Company in the territory.
Meneses told ACN that, although it can generate around 300 megawatt hours under normal conditions, the initial figure (200) is not inconsiderable for the improvement of the electric situation of the province and the country, severely damaged after the passage of Hurricane Irma.
In a meeting of the Provincial Defense Council, it was also highlighted that the greatest recovery efforts are currently concentrated on the rescue of housing and the reconstruction of works in the Health and Education sectors.
Teresa Rojas, Council President, spoke about the need to increase the productive capacity of local industries, and to facilitate people's access to available resources.
We are in a position to advance at a good pace, only need to remove barriers and better use the time, she said.
