Cuba´s sugar business group to discuss results of harvest

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 8 (ACN) The Sugar Group AZCUBA will evaluate tomorrow the results of the 2016-2017 harvest in the country, where 54 sugar mills worked, four more than last year, out of which 42 produced comparatively more sugar.

The deliberations will be in the National Sugar Training Center (CNCA), with the presence of executives of the business organization, announced to ACN Liobel Pérez Hernández, its institutional communicator.
Cuban sugar producers achieved a 20 percent growth in production, despite the impact of the intense drought that has severely affected the nation for years now, according to industry experts.
They considered that the latter caused a fall in the estimated cane that was ground and the reduction of its agricultural yield, which had a negative impact on the productivity level of the harvesting and transportation equipment.
Villa Clara was the most outstanding of the 13 provinces involved in the campaign, all of Cuba´s except Pinar del Rio and Havana.
