LAS TUNAS, Cuba, May 29 (acn) Antonio Guiteras sugar mill resumed grinding after several days inactive due to humidity in soils, even though Las Tunas province can´t comply its plan this year.
To date, the territory accumulates about 42,000 tons of crude more than in the previous season, but the 185,000 tons produced to date represent only 84 percent of the plan.
There is highlight for Majibacoa mill -which already stopped grinding and achieved the best harvest in its 31 years of life - when processing 78,244 tons, which means 9,716 over the program and 17 more than in the previous campaign and they also managed to decrease by 21 cents the cost per ton of sugar.
According to statistics provided by specialists of Las Tunas Sugar Company, the province couldn´t produce 17,790 tons due to delays in starting of the plants, as only the Majibacoa stated operating on the scheduled date, November 25, 2016.
