HAVANA, Cuba, April 2 (ACN) The Ministry of Agriculture (Minag) announced the existence of projects aimed at cooperatives and farms with computer services for their management.
José Antonio Milanés, director general of the entity, explained to the ACN that initially they are applied in Granma, Ciego de Ávila and the special municipality Isla de la Juventud, although later they will be extended to the rest of the country.
He said that some of the productive bases of these territories will have computers connected to the Internet, scanner and photocopiers, which will enable peasants and cooperatives to use the scientific and technological advances associated with their work.
He emphasized that in the eastern province of Granma, Ricardo Serrano, one of the best producers of fruit pumped in Cuba, has part of this equipment, and through a blog shows the results in the application of science and technological innovation in his farm La Victoria, belonging to the Jose Marti Credit and Services Cooperative.
According to Milanés, university students are linked to Serrano's experiences as one of the peasants specializing in fruit and other agricultural products.
Regarding the sale of the equipment, he explained that they select the best farmers in the country, who can purchase them in national currency.
Andrés Ricardo Sosa, marketing director, said that among the future plans of the EICMA are the automation of processes such as an irrigation machine, in order to use technologies that allow better results in agriculture.
Created eight years ago, the company is the only provider of communications, computer, office automation and automatic systems and services in Minag, which ensures the management and operation of agricultural production.
