Cuban innovators proved their worth in 2016

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 31 (ACN) Members of the National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers (ANIR) demonstrated in 2016 once again their value, said ACN Alfredo Machado López, president of the guild in Cuba.

The member of the National Secretariat of the Cuban Workers' Federation attended the assembly that analyzed the work deployed by that movement in the province of Sancti Spíritus during last year, a stage in which they applied in this territory 1,325 innovations with an economic effect that exceeded 15 million pesos.

Machado López said that the more than 110,000 members of the ANIR in the country helped reducing imports, saving material and financial resources, increasing labor productivity and lengthening the useful life of equipment and machinery, among other contributions.

He also noted that approximately 44 percent of the members are women, while 40 percent are young people, all actively participating in technical and productive development.

In the province the work to save energy carriers was outstanding, which allowed saving about two million pesos.

Although the integrated effort of all those involved in the functioning of the ANIR branch in Sancti Spíritus was recognized, the meeting called for greater understanding and support by the administrative and union leaders in the institutions and in other institutions.

Only will and good ideas, he said, we can overcome the obstacles and constraints that the country faces this year, so difficult from the economic point of view, to meet the production and service plans.

ANIR, conceived to stimulate in Cuba the initiative of the workers in the search of solutions to economic, social problems and for the defense of the country, has its antecedents after the triumph of the Revolution in 1959, when there was an exodus of technicians encouraged by United States.

In compliance with an agreement of the XIII Congress of the Central of Workers of Cuba, the organization was born on October 8, 1976, inspired by Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, one of the main drivers in the search for alternatives to overcome difficulties.
