HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 6 (acn) Nearly 30 Cuban and foreign companies confirmed their presence at the 14th International Congress on Sugar and Derivatives (DIVERSIFICATION 2017), to be held in this city from June 26 to 30.
The foreign entities come from Australia, Belgium, Spain, France, Guatemala, Panama, Sweden, Mexico, Norway and the People's Republic of China, said Bárbara Rodriguez, business director of the Cuban Sugar Cane Derivatives Research Institute (ICIDCA by its Spanish acronym), one of the organizers of the event.
She added that the deliberations will be at PABEXPO fairground, where it will also be on session the 23rd Latin American Congress.
According to the 2017 DIVERSIFICATION program, topics related to advances in sugar technology, industrial efficiency, energy from biomass, alcohol and beverages, animal feed and sugar cane farming will be addressed, in addition to payment systems, quality and environmental management, production chains, technology management, bio-stimulants, ripeners, bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides.
Rodriguez did not rule out the possibility of increasing the number of business executives attending the event, especially its trade fair for products and services and business forum, where there will be presented the portfolio of opportunities for foreign investment in the Cuban sugar sector.
54 sugar mills are involved in the current Cuban harvest, four more than in the last one, and there is sugar cane to reach a 12 percent growth in production compared to the previous plan, according to Liobel Perez, Institutional Communicator of AZCUBA Sugar Group.
