Business Groups of Cuba´s Agriculture Ministry held Debates on Their Performance

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 9 (acn) The timely delivery of the technological package and the situation with preservatives and packaging that depend on imports were discussed in the presence of Salvador Valdés Mesa, vice president of the Council of State, at the meeting of the Agricultural Business Group (GEA by its Spanish acronym) and its representatives.

This event is held from December 8 to 10, in the context of the First National Conference of the Agricultural and Forestry Trade Union.
During the meeting, Reinaldo Cuba, GEA director of Human Capital, said that there are problems with the masks, means of protection against rice dust, however, they are coordinating with the GELMA Business Group the possibility of looking for national suppliers of these items and prioritize their purchase.
He also referred to the unfavorable situation in the technological equipment and its infrastructure, and explained that it is important to guarantee fertilizers, chemicals and equipment to achieve a good agricultural production.
Ivan Gonzalez, official of Jagüey Grande Citrus Company, said that their refrigerators are full, so they have no capacity to store their products.
Coralia Torres, director of Citricos del Caribe enterprise, stated that one of the country's premise is the export of citrus, and we need that income to develop agriculture. However, she added, the exportable line must have a supreme quality.
Frank Castañeda, GEA CEO, said it is a priority to market the product, even in the domestic market.
More than 300 delegates from all over the country met with the Business Development Superior Organizations corresponding to the Livestock, Agricultural, Agro-forestry, Logistics, Flora and Fauna, Biotechnology and Tobacco sectors.
They analyzed topics such as food processing, improvement of working conditions, operation of Basic Units of Cooperative Production, and the efficiency of labor and wage policy.
These meetings precede the work in commissions and the plenary session, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, respectively, at the Cuban Workers Federation.
