HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 24 (acn) The 34th session of the Intergovernmental Commission between Cuba and Vietnam for economic and scientific-technical cooperation concluded with the signing of several legal instruments beneficial to both parties.
Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, Cuba´s Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, and Pham Hong Ha, Minister of Construction in the Asian country, presided over the activity as co-chairmen of the forum.
Malmierca said that they have the challenge of bringing economic relations to the same level as policies, and added that for this they already have a bilateral economic agenda with projects in areas such as Construction, Health and Tourism.
He stated that they agreed to maintain a more frequent exchange in order to strengthen trade links, which is why Hong Ha will return to Havana in the first months of the coming year.
During the ceremony an agreement was signed between the Superior Organization of Construction Materials Management (GEICON by its Spanish acronym) and the Vietnamese corporation Viglacera, in order to establish a joint venture that will produce sanitary furniture, cladding and ceramic pavements in the plants of Santa Cruz del Norte and San José de las Lajas, in Mayabeque province.
César Augusto Revuelta, GEICON vice president, told ACN that the articles produced in these facilities are intended for housing, sale of construction materials to the population and social works.
Islazul S.A. Hotel Business Group signed with the same Asian company a protocol of intentions for the development of cooperation in the remodeling and improvement of various hotel complexes in Cuba.
In addition, the Finlay Vaccine Institute and the DAVAC Company in Vietnam signed an agreement aimed at obtaining a conjugate vaccine against typhoid fever.
Le Quang Hung, Deputy Minister of Construction; Doung Minh, ambassador in Havana, and entrepreneurs interested in investment opportunities in the Cuban nation also attended the ceremony on the Vietnamese side.
The 34th session of the Intergovernmental Commission between Cuba and Vietnam was opened last November 18, after the official visit to the Caribbean island of the Vietnamese president Tran Dai Quang.
