HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 4 (acn) Cuba promotes 114 business projects in tourism among the close to 400 included in the 2016-2017 Foreign Investment Portfolio, since it is the most dynamic sector in Cuban economy.
Tourism is the second largest source of income for the country, and the most sought-for sector for foreign investors, with hotel management among the business models Cuba offers.
Hotel building, upgrading or remodeling are some of the proposals shown in the new portfolio, as well as the construction of infrastructure related to these facilities.
Another target of this catalogue of opportunities is to find developers of real estate that could be combined with the hotels, gold courses; the construction of theme parks and the management of marinas throughout the country.
Cuba seeks to draw attention to less developed tourist areas like Guardalavaca (northeastern coast of Holguin province), Cienfuegos, Santa Lucia beach in central Camaguey province, Covarrubias beach in eastern Las Tunas province and Havana city, with the exception of Old Havana
The development plan till 2030 includes the building of 108 new rooms. Out of which 30 thousand will use direct foreign investment.
Cuba has experienced a growth in tourism in the last years, with a 17.4 percent increase in 2015, where it received over 3.5 million tourists.
