Economic control on the spotlight of Cuban lawmakers

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 8 (acn) Cuban lawmakers insisted in deepening economic control as a crucial factor in the process towards a prosperous and sustainable socialist system.

Following the approval by Parliament of the update of the country´s social and economic guidelines until 2021, lawmaker Victor de la Paz, from eastern Granma province, said economic control is vital to honor accords, such as the efficient performance of state companies.
But this factor faces difficulties that stem from problems like incomplete pay-rolls, unstable labor force and others, so he proposed to increase moral and material benefits for the workers, particularly those in the accounting activity.
In order to make accounting an effective tool for the decision-making process it requires favored treatment, said the deputy, who noted that negative factors limiting appropriate accounting activity are lack of awareness by company directives heading that important area and the lack of information for the workers.
Lawmakers stressed the deep people´s debate on the social and economic draft guidelines and the high social consensus on current transformations.
In the presence of Cuban President Raul Castro, the Cuban Parliament is holding the 7th Session of its 8th Legislature at Havana´s Conventions Center on an agenda that includes the performance of the country´s budget in 2015 and the economic plan implemented in the first half of this year.
