HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 30 (acn) The 12 th Latin American Congress on Bee production scheduled from July 18th to the 22nd at Havana's Convention Center with the participation of delegates from 20 countries will discuss the advances of sector in Cuba and region.
The event, organized by the Cuban Society of Bee Production, the Center of Bee Research and Cuban Bee Company will constitute a meeting and integration point where issues like production and trade of the bee products will be discussed including quality and uses or applications in other sectors of the economy.
Adolfo Perez Pineiro, President of the Organizing Committee said on Wednesday in Havana that the exchanges among specialists on experiences and knowledge will enrich the capacity of the work of the Cuban bee producers.
He pointed out that they will analyze strategies, genetics and biology of the bees, use of technologies and the management of the bee hive, production of organic honey and the effects of climate change.
He also director of the Bee Research Center informed that there will be an exposition during the congress in order for the commercial entities and production companies linked to the sector demonstrate and promote their products, offers and possibility of business in each area.
The presentation of new Cuban products is foreseen starting from the honey destined for public health, food and the cosmetic industry.
Cuba has tradition and experience in bee breeding since 1764 when the first colonies arrived through the port of Havana, according to reports.
This production is currently with an investment plan until the year 2020 and contemplates over 10 million dollars to modernize the productive chain with the objective of increasing the participation of the sector in the country's economic earnings.
