Missouri willing to expand trade with Cuba

Missouri willing to expand trade with CubaHAVANA, Cuba, May 30 (acn) Governor Jeremiah W. Nixon (D-Missouri) said his state is willing to find business opportunities in Cuba, and to strengthen existing trade relations, limited due to the US blockade.

Nixon is in Havana with a business delegation looking for opportunities that will be beneficial to both parties, he said at a entrepreneurs meeting between his state and Cuba.
The Governor thanked Cuba for the warm welcome he received and added that the presence in Havana, a ¨historical and beautiful city¨, of his delegation stresses the importance they give to this trip to expand relations.
After the December 17, 2014, joint announcement of Presidents Raul Castro and Barack Obama, Nixon and his cabinet studied the potential for their state in this new scenario, he said.
We understand this is a great opportunity for Missouri´s producers, he said, and mentioned several products they export that Cuba needs like rice, soybeans, dairy products, poultry, and beef, among others.
Cuba´s Director of the North America Department at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, María de la Luz B'Hamel, said it was very important that the first activity of the US delegation is a business meeting.
