Cuba and Aruba for More Cooperation in TourismHAVANA, Cuba, May 10 (acn) With similar interests in tourism, Cuba and Aruba signed in this capital a memorandum of understanding aimed at increasing the exchange of knowledge on cruise facilities and establishing a sea route between the two islands.

As reported on Tuesday by the official website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the document was signed by Rodrigo Malmierca, Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, and Otmar Oduber, Minister for Tourism, Transport, Culture and Primary Industry of Aruba who traveled to Havana to participate in the recent International Tourism Fair FitCuba 2016.
The note specifies that the signing of the Memorandum is part of joint actions aimed at increasing cooperation between Cuba and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, of which Aruba, along with Curacao and St. Maarten, is part of with the status of autonomous country.
Held on May 3-7, the Tourism Fair showed how Cuba is heading for the development of the so-called leisure industry, one of the most dynamic sectors of the Caribbean nation and its second source of foreign currency.
One of the tourist activities increased during the 2015-2016 season was the arrival of cruise ships like the Panorama, Adriana, Luis Crystal, Thomson Dream, MSC Opera and Adonia, of Carnival Company, the first from the U.S. to anchor in Cuban ports in 50 years.
Due to the growing trend of arriving in Cuba by boat, the repair and maintenance of port facilities are among the sector's actions, pointed out Cuban Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero.
