Viajes Cubanacan and Cubatur were the travel agencies of the territory that served as main receptors.
Paula Vazquez, commercial specialist of the Ministry of Tourism in the province, told ACN that about 70 percent of total passengers bought trips to tour emblematic places of the territory.
She also highlighted the improvements since early this year received by the cruise terminal located in Guillermón Moncada port, to provide it with superior conditions and facilities for those coming to this destination.
The cruise season in Santiago de Cuba will have continuity with the recent announcement by the cruise line Carnival, from United States.
As reported, it provides the maiden voyage next May 1st from Miami to Havana in a seven-day tour around Cuba and berths also in Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba.
It will be an opportunity to showcase the cultural and heritage values of the city, cradle of son and trova.
At heritage level the city has architectural gems dating back several centuries as the Holy Metropolitan Basilica Cathedral Church, the Museum of Cuban Historical Environment and the Morro Castle San Pedro de la Roca, as well as the Santa Ifigenia cemetery and the Gran Piedra (Great Stone).
Santiago de Cuba treasures two sites recognized by UNESCO: the Archaeological Landscape of the first coffee plantations in southeastern Cuba, World Heritage Site, and La Tumba Francesa La Caridad de Oriente, Intangible Heritage.
