HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 6 (acn) The need to strengthen partnerships between Cuba and Chile in the construction sector was highlighted on Tuesday during the inauguration of the pavilion of the South American nation in the 11th International Construction Fair, FECONS 2016, on the grounds of Havana's PABEXPO exhibition site.
This year, the Andean country is the Guest of Honor to the major trade meeting, which brings together 199 exhibitors from 29 nations, including Spain, Germany, Italy, Panama, United States and Vietnam.
Paulina Saball, Minister of Housing and Urbanism of Chile, thanked the Cuban people for its hospitality and for the fact that such an important fair is dedicated to her country, which is represented in the meeting by 13 companies, one of them with a branch in Havana.
In the presence of Cuban Construction Minister Rene Mesa, the Chilean minister expressed the desire to contribute to the strengthening of the hotel infrastructure in Cuba, while highlighting the possibilities of capturing new opportunities for cooperation in this sector.
Cuba appreciates Chile's progress in the sector and the high degree of professional and scientific training, said Construction Ministry official Antonio Medina.
Standing out among Chilean companies at FECONS 2016 are the Millauquen Building Society, the marketing company of machinery and tools Sur Continente S.A., and the coordinating committee for architecture projects Bimchile.
FECONS 2016 will run until April 8.
