US Companies for the First Time at Cuban Construction FairHAVANA, Cuba, Apr 7 (acn) Ten US companies are taking part, for the first time, at Havana´s 11th International Construction Fair, expressing the interest of US business sector to invest on the island, said Abraham Vargas, representative of the Miami-based Tradewinds Corporation.

Vargas, said that his company sees significant business prospects in Cuban agricultural sector. Tradewinds manufactures and markets pumping and power equipment fueled with diesel for the agricultural, industrial and residential sectors.
Meanwhile, Engineer Ausgust Lester, sales manager of Franklin Electric said he came to the fair in order to explore and learned about the local demand of pumping systems based on solar energy.

For Lester, Cuba is an attractive market given the high demand of water, power and clean technologies by sectors such as tourism and agriculture. He said he was confident about the process aimed at normalizing bilateral relations between his country and Cuba.

Other US companies participating at the Havana fair include Abconventas, in the field of construction materials, projects and engineering, hydraulic systems; as well as Caribe Industrial, in the area of plastic products for the construction sector; Steel Construction Headquarters, in the pre-fabricated area, and others.

The International Construction Fair (FECONS), running till Saturday, is being attended by 199 companies from 29 countries, including Spain with the largest representation, and Chile as guest nation./lcg
