HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 5 (acn) Cuba will once again hold specialized fairs in sectors like hotel services, food, security, packaging and graphic arts aimed at promoting and strengthening trade and investments with the business world.
The initiative reinforces the island's interest in diversifying its ties with the international market and attracting the new business opportunities included in the updated foreign investment law, said on Wednesday in Havana Miriam Martinez, director of Fairs and Exhibitions of the Chamber of Commerce.
Thanks to the joint work between the Pabexpo Exhibition Hall in Cuba and the Barcelona Fira, one of the most important in Europe, a number of fairs will be held this year like the HostelCuba from May 17th to the 19, Cuba's Food Fair July 5th to the 7th and Securtec Cuba from September 13th to the 15th.
Another business event that will also participate with Cuban state and private sectors and foreign delegates will be the Pacgraf Cuba scheduled for February 9th of 2017 dedicated to packaging and graphic arts.
With the support of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment and the Chamber of Commerce, Martinez stressed that a joint agenda between buyers and exhibitors will be previously worked out to achieve an ideal space for mutual projects.
Luis Gutierrez Director of Pabexpo highlighted that the packed alliance with Fira de Barcelona has as its objective reestablish the specialized fairs calendar held in the Cuban exhibition hall, many which were held in the 1990's.
The events are aimed at short term business said Claire Garcia, representative of the Fira de Barcelona which, heads JosepBonet, President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, and organizes fairs 15 of which are international references.
Regarding Hostel Cuba, dedicated to promote products for hotels and tourism services, Gracia added that there are already 45 foreign exhibitors that have reserved close to one thousand 300 square meters of the 8 thousand that make up the Pabexpo area.
With the objective of attracting foreign investment in the development of 12 prioritized sectors Cuba currently has a renovated business portfolio that includes 326 projects valued at 8 billion dollars identified by national entities to improve its technological capacities and managerial methods.
