Cuban private initiative shines at local commercial fair

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 3 (acn) Private small companies in the eastern Cuban city of Camaguey has garnered their own space at an ongoing commercial fair.

Among the private companies was GESTAR, a small business in the advisory area, particularly aimed at assisting cooperatives, self-employees, artists and private farmers,

Gesta member Ernesto Figueredo said they help the businesses in the accounting activity, tax payment, marketing areas.

The private company expects to open offices in Havana and in the province of Artemisa to have an impact in western private businesses.
Cuba has seen a growing number of the private initiative, which includes self-employees and cooperatives, particularly in the service area.

According to the Labor Ministry 496 thousand 413 persons are self-employed. Some 65 percent of the private initiative is concentrated in the provinces Havana, Matanzas, central Villa Clara, and eastern Camaguey, Holguin and Santiago de Cuba.

The private initiative in Cuba develops in the sectors of food processing and expenditure, passenger and cargo transportation, apartment rentals, telecommunications and others.
