HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 29 (acn) Cuban lawmakers are gathering Tuesday at the 6th Session of the Cuban Parliament´s 8 th Legislature to consider the performance of the country´s economy in 2015 and its prospects for 2016 and the pace and results during the past five years of the update of Cuban economy.
Following three days of debates in parliamentary commissions, the over 500 lawmakers will discuss the implementation of the state budget and the economic plan in 2015 as well as proposals for next year.
The session will include a report on the implementation of the social and economic guidelines approved by the 6th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party in 2011.
During the analysis made by the 10 commissions, the deputies addressed strategic programs in the benefit of the people, the economy as well as current problems and inefficiency. They also dealt with the current foreign investment law and the involvement of young people in the private or non-state economic sector.
Other issues on the commissions´ agenda included the results of science and technology on food production, the housing program, legal services, and the expansion of internet and other related services. They also addressed the fight on illegality, crimes and corruption.
