Russia will invest in Cuba´s economic and social development

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 4 (acn) Russia´s participation in the economic and social development programs in Cuba in the coming years were highlighted at the opening on Monday of the 33rd Havana International Trade Fair (FIHAV-2015).

Among some of the priorities of the bilateral agenda for both states are sectors associated in industry, energy, transportation, computer sciences and communications, health services and medical-pharmaceutical, biotechnology and tourism.

Cuba´s First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Antonio Carricarte pointed out that the recent agreements confirm the commitment of both governments and mutual interests in developing and strengthening cooperation in economic, trade and financial relations.

He expressed that the documents represents the legal support to carry out the important projects like those related with the construction of four 200 megawatt electric generators each and the modernization and expansion of the Antilla de Acerosteel company.

Carricarte informed that Cuba has been effectively complying with its payment obligations with its creditors and foreign providers despite facing the financial restrictions imposed by the US government.

The Cuban government official explained that steps and financial alternatives for the current trade operations between both countries as the support of important Russian banks.

He pointed out that it is necessary to continue identifying common interests for business that are mutually beneficial that respond to the priorities of both parties.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Georgui Kalamanov expressed that the participation of Russian business executives to FIHAV-2015 constitutes an ideal exhibition platform to strengthen international relations and cooperation projects.

Participating in the inauguration of the fair were Vice President of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas and Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca among other guests.
