HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 3 (acn) Despite the fulfillment of its production plans, Holguin's nickel industry is going through a bad time this year, due to the considerable fall in the price of this product in the international market.
That is why the eastern Cuban province´s nickel industry cannot honor its commitments to the country in terms of revenues, as so far they have only achieved 66 percent of what is planned.
According to studies by specialized sources, good news regarding the prices of this product in the international market is not portended.
Today a ton of nickel is being valued at just over $ 11,000, quite below of its price in the first half of the year, period in which was valued at more than $ 13,000.
This industry plans an increase at discretion of its productions, after estimating a rise in prices of the product later this year.
Regarding the liquidity of the company, affectations in commodity production, income and sales exceed 250 million dollars, according to statements by executives of this sector.
