Cuba and France Share Potential to Expand Economic Relations

Paris.- Havana, July 24 (acn).-Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment minister Rodrigo Malmierca stressed this week in Paris the potential of Cuba and France to further develop bilateral economic relations.

During a meeting with French business people in the French capital, Malmierca said that following the visit to Havana by President Francois Holland this year, new prospects for bilateral economic links were opened, which adds to the political will of both governments in that direction.

The Cuban minister recalled that during Holland´s visit to Cuba both sides signed a series of accords to expand trade, cooperation and investment.

Malmierca said that President Holland emphasized that he hoped that the French Development Agency could work in Cuba and he added that in that regards he held meetings with authorities to begin working with that aim.

The Cuban government official did not discard to consider French investment projects in Cuba that could be sponsored by the Agency in the future.

Cuba´s ongoing efforts to get inserted in international economy take the promotion of foreign investment and a stronger dynamics in foreign trade with different partners, said the minister.

And these efforts also bear in mind the special moment given by the state of relations between Cuba and France. "We think that there are conditions to multiply trade so that French companies invest in our country and this will be a reality in the short term," he stressed.
