HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 30 (acn) Enrique Garcia, president of the Andean Development Corporation (ADC), expressed the interest of his institution of having Cuba as part of this entity, given the demonstrations given by the Caribbean nation of working in favor of sustainable development.
Garcia was one of the main panelists of the First International Seminar on "Opportunities and challenges for the economic development of Latin America and Cuba," which concluded in this capital on Wednesday.
Cuba has two conditions that are pillars of the work of our development corporation: first, the stability of its macroeconomic indicators, and the other, the active role played in the integration of Latin America and the Caribbean, he underlined.
We expect that the bridge built in this meeting goes beyond the intellectual and academic level and results in pragmatic ways of economic cooperation and even, after corresponding talks, in the incorporation of Cuba to the ADC, he announced.
For those unfamiliar with the work of the institution it is necessary to clarify that relations take place in an atmosphere of mutual respect and balance of forces, in which all countries have the power of decision-making, he said.
Since its creation in 1993, ADC has gradually incorporated other nations to the list of the Andean countries it was originally composed of. It's currently made up by almost twenty and has become one of the main sources of financing for infrastructure and production diversification projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
