HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 13 (acn) A 45-member Spanish trade mission is visiting Cuba in search of new opportunities to expand bilateral commercial relations.
The delegation is headed by Trade Secretary Jaime Garcia-Legaz and includes executives from the Spanish Entrepreneurs Confederation and the Chamber of Commerce.
The visitors will meet with Cuban entrepreneurs to assess the current commercial exchange and identify opportunities for new business initiatives, according to PL news agency.
During the scheduled exchange, executives with the Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Ministry will present the opportunities offered by the new Cuban Foreign Investment Law and by the Special Development Zone at the western port of Mariel.
Spanish media reports say that the trade mission will meet with Cuban ministers of Tourism, Energy and Construction to address issues of interest for the Spanish companies in these fields.
Spain is Cuba´s third major commercial partner after Venezuela and China, with stable and mutually beneficial trade, while opportunities to increase investment are now growing given the changes in Cuba aimed at encouraging foreign capital in key economic sectors.
According to official data, Spain ranks first among the sources of investment in Cuba, with a large presence in tourism.
