HAVANA, Cuba, November 6 (ACN) The Associations of Sugar Technicians of Cuba and Mexico (ATAC-ATAM) will hold their 9th meeting tomorrow in Havana to exchange ideas and promote initiatives for the sustainable recovery of the agro-industry through the diversification of production options.
The National Sugar Training Center (CNCA by its Spanish acronym) will host the event, which is part of a mutual collaboration agreement established during the first meeting in 2017 and organized annually since then.
In an exclusive interview with the Cuban News Agency, Eduardo Lamadrid Martinez, president of ATAC, also reported that they will provide a space for analysis and mutual reflection to contribute to the reorientation and development of the production chains for sugarcane, sugar, derivative products, and food; using sustainable alternatives such as agroecology, good agricultural and industrial practices, and the reorganization of sugarcane fields, among others.
The participation of technologists, agronomists, scientists, and managers from the sugar industry of both groups was announced.
These individuals are interested in the technical advancement of the sector and its related fields, with the aim of contributing to increased efficiency and improved economic and productive results.
The 8th meeting of the two associations in 2024 took place despite the impact of Hurricane Rafael in November on Artemisa, Havana, and Mayabeque, and this current meeting will be held amidst the ongoing restoration efforts in the eastern region following the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Melissa.
