CAMAGUEY, Cuba, Feb 2 (acn) PESCACAM fish farming company, which operates in Camagüey reservoirs, started 2015 with a positive result in January, capturing 400 tons of different species of freshwater, fourth time in three decades it reaches such figures in the first month of the year.
This occurs despite in the first and final months of the year, cold temperatures in water and wind are not the most favorable for fishing, which varies between 100-200 tons normally, Jesus García Collazo, director of the entity, told ACN.
That level of fishing is included in the program of 2015, when PESCACAM, company with the highest catches in Cuba, planned capturing an amount of 4 900 tons.
In the last two years the company, which is engaged in the extraction of biomass fro, reservoirs and its industrial processing in three factories, exceeded the five thousand tons, and always growing.
In addition to allocate part of its production to internationally market the HG tench (without head and gutted), PESCACAM increased to 33 the assortment of foods that achieves, some targeted for sale to hotels and hard currency stores.
But most of this production goes to fish shops network in the province, with increase in the frequency and quantity of supply.
Twenty fish shops operate in the province, much of them in this city.
Collazo said that since last year a study is undertaken to improve these facilities serving the population, mainly to provide them with cooling systems, but this line of action will continue to increase comfort and favorable image.
