SANTA CLARA, Cuba, Jan 8 (ACN) With the objective of achieving a successful sugar harvest during the 2023-2024 campaign, the central province of Villa Clara is increasing its efforts to comply with the sugar commitments that currently place it as the fourth province with the highest production plan in the country.
In a verification tour on Sunday, it was confirmed the good rhythm of a milling that, although with several days of delay, projects to exceed, in March, 45,000 tons (t) of crude only from two of its most important agroindustrial enterprises: the Quintin Banderas in the municipality of Corralillo, and the Hector Rodriguez in Sagua la Grande.
In spite of the difficult international economic situation, aggravated in the case of Cuba by the material shortages imposed by the US blockade, the machinery of the territory prioritizes the attention to man and the motivation of the workers for collective work, confirmed Milaxy Yanet Sanchez Armas, provincial vice governor, who proposed to use transshipment as an alternative so that the shot from the sugar cane fields is not affected.
With the purpose of not falling below the agreed amount for the current harvest, as it happened in the two previous stages, Villa Clara strengthens its work and contributes to the national projection of the sector, set at more than 5 million tons of sugarcane milled and more than 400,000 tons of sugar obtained.
